Auto Repair in Othello, WA
Othello, WA
The city of Othello, WA, is located in Grant County, about 25 miles south of Moses Lake at the intersection of state routes 17 and 26. Othello covers four square miles of land in the heart of the Columbia Basin Project, home to an estimated population of more than 8,200 people.
Homesteaders arrived in the area in the early 20th century. A local post office was established in 1904, followed by a railroad line that was built through the county in 1907. All of this led to the town of Othello being incorporated in 1910. Decades later, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation opened their offices in Othello shortly after World War II. In the early 1950s, the Columbia Basin Project brought irrigation to Othello, increasing both agriculture and commerce. For more than the past 20 years, Othello has hosted the Sandhill Crane Festival, celebrating the annual arrival of these birds to the nearby Columbia National Wildlife Refuge.
